Ik begon met drummen op 4-jarige leeftijd en was autodidact, totdat ik op 17-jarige leeftijd naar de Dick Grove School of Music ging. Op 15-jarige leeftijd sloot ik me aan bij mijn eerste band met mijn oude vriend Stan Ausmus.
In 1995 ontmoette ik Kevin Gilbert en sloot me aan bij zijn band THUD en vanaf dat moment begon mijn carrière in veel verschillende richtingen. Ik speelde voor artiesten als Jonatha Brooke, Genesis, Tears For Fears, Fates Warning, Frost * en Mike Keneally. Het ontmoeten van broers Neal en Alan Morse op een jamavond in 1991 leidde ertoe dat ik hun krachten bundelde en de band vormde die bekend werd als Spock’s Beard. Met Spock’s Beard maakte ik 10 studio-platen, de eerste zes als drummer / achtergrondzanger en de volgende 4 als drummer / leadzanger. Ik verliet Spock’s Beard in 2010 en deed mee aan de Cirque Du Soleil-show TOTEM, waar ik bijna 5 jaar als drummer, zanger en bandleider speelde. Ik werd lid van mijn huidige band Big Big Train in 2007. Rond augustus 2014 begon ik bij de studio-drummer Sweetwater te werken als studiodrummer, en leverde ik ook massa’s webinhoud.
Ik ben gezegend om deel te nemen aan een groot aantal platen en om duizenden shows te spelen met verschillende bands, terwijl ik tegelijkertijd veel van deze geweldige planeet zag.
I started playing drums at the age of 4 and was self-taught until I attended the Dick Grove School of music at age 17. I joined my first band with my longtime friend Stan Ausmus at the age 15.
In 1995 I met Kevin Gilbert and joined his band THUD and from that moment on my career took off in many different directions. I went on to play for artists like Jonatha Brooke, Genesis, Tears For Fears, Fates Warning, Frost*, and Mike Keneally. Meeting brothers Neal and Alan Morse at a jam night in 1991 led to me combine forces with them, forming the band that became known as Spock’s Beard. With Spock’s Beard I made 10 studio records, the first six as drummer/back-ground vocalist, and the next 4 as drummer/lead vocalist. I left Spock’s Beard in 2010 and joined the Cirque Du Soleil show TOTEM, playing as drummer, singer, and bandleader for almost 5 years. I became a member of my current band Big Big Train in 2007. Around August 2014 I started working at the music gear retail giant Sweetwater as the studio drummer, also providing masses of web content.
I have been blessed to participate on a vast myriad of records, and to play thousands of shows with several different bands, while seeing a lot of this amazing planet in the process.
