Tonochrome are a London based art rock quintet whose grunge aesthetic is peppered with jazz harmony, contemporary classical influences, Andean sounds and pop hooks. A coming together of opposites, of texture and colour, of the acoustic and the synthetic, Tonochrome are a joyful reminder of what music can be when you just don’t give a damn about convention.
“Tonochrome’s debut EP is immersed in contemporary soundscaping with a mix of electronic elements, truly organic rock riffs and odd meters, occasionally cavernous reverby production and some heartfelt, direct songwriting which is bolstered by the production flourishes.” – Rough Trade
Singer/guitarist Andres Razzini founded Tonochrome in 2011 somewhere above the Atlantic on his travels between his native Bolivia and his adopted home in London. The studio based project recorded demos and EPs in London, New York and La Paz. The early releases were well received by a small, but enthusiastic online following.
In London, Andres surrounded himself with like-minded musos to transform his studio work into a living, breathing live band. Tonochrome play regularly in the capital’s clubs where their ethereal, angular music has met with the most poetic of responses.
